It's only failure if you quit. I feel like quitting sometimes (on any given subject). When I wake up some mornings, it seems too hard to begin the day. I lay still until I think of a good reason to get up. So far, I've always thought of one.
Failure is a matter of perspective, retreat reflects wisedom, quitting is absolute.
I took the first test of an online project managers course and received a 58%. The results displayed "failed". What the school did not realize was that I had not yet received my student packet containing my study materials and had no way of studying for the exam. I scored 58% on a difficult exam with only my current knowledge to rely on. From my perspective, it was a success and in no way a failure. The only failure was the school's inability to get the study documents to me in a timely manner. I knew more about the subject than I had realized. Luckily, you could take the exam (different questions of course) as many times as you want until you submit it as final for the first quarterly test.
I like this quote. I have always heard that a mistake is only a problem if you fail to learn from it.
